Nissan NV200 named International Van of the Year 2010

The van Nissan NV200 has won the International Van of the Year 2010 award, granted by an international jury made up of 23 European journalists who acted as representatives through their media outlets to more than half a million commercial vehicle users. The jury stated in its official communiqué:
The Jury was particularly impressed that the new compact commercial vehicle has set a new benchmark in the ratio of its interior space to its exterior dimensions.
The Nissan NV200 is groundbreaking because its design features compact dimensions: 4.4 metres in length and 1.86 in height, with a width of 1.69. With this overall size it offers an interior loading length of more than 2 metres, which allows it to accommodate two Euro pallets inside. Compared with its competitors, it offers 25% more cargo volume (4.2 m3).
It is currently available in Europe in the Van and Combi versions, although from 2010 the range will be joined by a new variant designed exclusively for passenger transport. In Japan it holds a 40% market share, the undisputed leader in the segment. Nissan has announced that the second electric vehicle the brand will launch will be a commercial model based on the NV200, similar to the Renault Kangoo ZE that we discussed here at Highmotor not long ago.
