Nissan shows the benefits of 360º vision when parking with the Nissan Pulsar

One of the most delicate moments when driving is, without doubt, the moment of parking. And even more so if this parking is done in reverse, when the rear-view mirrors are not enough to see everything that awaits us behind. Today it is possible to minimise this risk thanks to the technology available in the best-equipped vehicles. One of these advances is the rear-view camera and the parking assistance system.
This system has been included in many of the models currently on sale, and manufacturers insist that it be fitted when it is an option. The reason is very clear: using these systems helps avoid unexpected knocks and allows correct manoeuvres that will leave the vehicle neatly parked.
In figures, and according to a survey carried out by Nissan in several European countries, 1 in 3 drivers has suffered damage to their car in the last 12 months. 16% of these occurred while parking, and many of them happened while reversing.

To promote this parking safety system, the Japanese brand fitted out a public car park in Rome to demonstrate its effectiveness. To do so, they invited users of the car park to install a camera on the roof of their car and view those images on a large screen placed in front of the designated parking space. It is not as efficient as the system fitted to these models, but it allowed those who tried it to see how it worked.
And, since this was an advertising action, at the end of the test there was a surprise. This is purely anecdotal, because what really matters is the advantage an assistance system like this offers when parking, as you can see in the video. And of course, we can also see how the system fitted to a Nissan Pulsar actually works.
