#NoChangeTires, this is the new DGT campaign

If you are going to travel these days, you should know about the new campaign of the Directorate-General for Traffic.

The Directorate-General for Traffic launches a new traffic campaign aimed at raising awareness among drivers under the slogan #NoChangeTires. This operation will be in effect between 12 and 18 July and has become one of the most special campaigns of this summer season. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that this campaign has something that sets it apart from the others.

This special traffic campaign is being carried out jointly by the Directorate-General for Traffic and ASPAYM. Drivers who do not comply with speed limits will be warned by Guardia Civil Traffic agents and, in addition, will receive advice from members of the Association of People with Spinal Cord Injury and other disabilities. This initiative falls within the spinal cord injury prevention campaign for accidents that has been running for fifteen years.

“Don’t run, don’t drink, don’t change tires”

“Don’t run, don’t drink, don’t change tires” is the slogan of this campaign, which aims to raise awareness among drivers about the risk posed by driving at speeds above those permitted. This year the Directorate-General for Traffic has decided to take a step further and will now hand out reflective wristbands that direct to this microsite. There, drivers can read some tips to prevent traffic accidents.

More than 30 volunteers with spinal cord injuries caused by traffic accidents will accompany the agents carrying out speed checks. The volunteer will approach the vehicle, convey the campaign’s message and show the consequences and after-effects caused by speeding.

This campaign will have a greater impact in Albacete, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Jerez de la Frontera, Burgos, León, Valladolid, Córdoba, Cuenca, A Coruña, Granada, Jaén, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia, Toledo and Valencia. Mayte Gallego, president of Aspaym, has stated that “we will have 30 volunteers, in most of the autonomous communities across Spanish territory where we have representation, and we will accompany the Guardia Civil agents at the checkpoints.” For its part, the Directorate-General for Traffic wanted to add that “in 2019 speed was present in 23% of fatal accidents, that is, more than 300 people died in accidents in which speed was one of the contributing factors.”

The focus will be on conventional roads

Once again, the focus will be placed on conventional roads, and until July 18 the agents will monitor the kilometer points with the highest accident rates. The location of the speed cameras is published on the Directorate-General for Traffic website, and we told you about it a few weeks ago.

If you are travelling these days, please do so with care and respecting the speed limits established on the road. We want you to keep reading us when you return from your holidays!
