Opel Grandland X: new 1.6 Turbo petrol engine
The Opel Grandland X gets a new top-of-the-range engine, the 1.6 Turbo petrol with 180 CV, paired exclusively with the 8-speed automatic gearbox and the Ultimate trim.
New engine for the Opel Grandland X. The SUV from Opel adds the 1.6 Turbo petrol to its range, in its 180 CV version. It is positioned as a “top” option, since it is offered exclusively with the 8-speed automatic gearbox and the top-spec Ultimate trim. In our road test of the Opel Grandland X Ultimate 2.0 diesel we already covered the virtues of this model and the very complete equipment of this version. Now, the new petrol engine offers an alternative in terms of power and refinement for those who are not fully convinced by diesel.

The 1.6 PureTech engine (shared with PSA) with an aluminium block produces 180 CV at 5,500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 250 Nm from 1,750 rpm. Among its most notable technologies is variable valve timing. And it does not lack a particulate filter to control emissions and meet the upcoming Euro 6d-TEMP standard. With this engine, the Opel Grandland X 1.6 Turbo offers a combined consumption from 5.7 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions from 130 g/km. These figures are the reference values under WLTP, converted from the homologated consumption figures under the NEDC cycle.
Complete equipment and attractive discounts
The equipment exclusive to the Ultimate versions of the Grandland X, the only one available with this engine, is very complete. Among other features, it includes 19-inch alloy wheels in two tones, silver roof rails, ergonomic front seats and leather upholstery. Also the Denon premium sound system. And it does not lack a full set of driver assistance systems.

Currently, the Grandland X Ultimate range lets you choose between the 130 CV 1.2 petrol engine, the 130 CV 1.5 CDTI and the 180 CV 2.0 CDTI, in addition to the new 1.6 Turbo. Prices start at just over 28,000 euros, up to a little over 35,000 for the most powerful versions with automatic gearbox. Brand discounts are included, reaching up to 4,500 euros, depending on the version.
