Peugeot presents the new Efficient Tronic Gearbox (ETG)

Peugeot debuts its new gearbox, called the ETG (Efficient Tronic Gearbox). This new gearbox, which allows the driver to switch between manual and automatic mode, replaces the previously existing Manual Automated Gearbox, known by its acronym CMP. The ETG gearbox, also available with five or six speeds, represents an evolution and improvement over the latter, based on a series of technical and operational innovations.

One of its main innovations is the rampage function, which acts as a driving assistance system, allowing the vehicle to move forward in first gear and in reverse without the need to press the accelerator. Rampage, which works both after the vehicle has come to a complete stop and at low speed with the engine at idle, makes maneuvering easier in everyday situations such as parking or traffic jams.

The new ETG also offers more comfort and dynamism, with an optimized pedal mapping, which delivers smoother starts and greater driving pleasure, as well as a clearer modulation of the shift points. And thanks to certain adjustments to the final drive ratio of the gearbox, ETG will provide even greater efficiency.

This new ETG gearbox is already available on a wide range of models in the Peugeot range, such as the Peugeot 208, the 2008 urban crossover, the 308 and the New 308, which goes on sale this week; also on the 508 saloon, as well as the 3008 and 5008.
