Polestar 1 Special Edition, a special edition as a farewell before the end of production

The Polestar 1 will end its production at the end of this year, but before that the Swedish brand wants to bid it farewell with the limited Special Edition

The Polestar 1 marked the beginning of an era for the Swedish brand, placing it on the map of sports vehicles and paving the way for the successive models that have arrived, such as the Polestar 2, and those that will arrive soon, as Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, states: “We pushed the boundaries with this car, not only in terms of engineering, but also in its design and execution. The Polestar 1 set the course for our brand, and its genes are evident in the Polestar 2, as they will be in our future cars”.

Unfortunately, the Polestar 1 is heading towards the end of its production, a moment that, according to the brand’s predictions, will happen at some point before the end of 2021, although for now there is still time for a lucky buyer to get one of the last units that will be produced. That is why Polestar wants to send off its Polestar 1 in grand style, treating us to the exclusive Polestar 1 Special Edition.

Aesthetically, the exterior of the Polestar 1 Special Edition is undoubtedly a beauty that will turn heads wherever it goes. Its body, made of polymer-reinforced carbon fibre, has been painted in matte gold, which looks spectacular and combines perfectly with other elements finished in gloss black, such as the front grille, the lower insert of the front bumper, the roof, the lower part of the mirror housings, the wheels and the rear diffuser.

The interior of the Polestar 1 Special Edition presents a blend of sportiness, luxury and fine craftsmanship, featuring leather upholstery on its sports seats, where the exterior gold colour appears in the stitching as a contrast. To give it this sporty touch, carbon fibre also makes an appearance in the dashboard inserts, the door panels and the sill plates, combined with other gloss black inserts found on elements such as the steering wheel, the air vents and the centre console.

Mechanically, the Polestar 1 Special Edition continues to use the same hybrid system, consisting of a 2,000 cc turbo petrol engine and two electric motors on the rear axle, resulting in a combined output of 609 CV together with peak torque of 1,000 Nm, and it is capable of offering a fully electric range of 124 km on the WLTP test cycle. To stop this power it has a braking system signed by Akebono with calipers painted in the same colour as the bodywork, plus adjustable Öhlins dampers.

Polestar does not specify the price of the Polestar 1 Special Edition, but production will be limited to just 25 units, so its exclusivity is assured.
