As you may recall, just a few days ago the range of the new Porsche 911 (992) was expanded with the arrival of one of its most iconic variants, the 911 Targa, which came in the form of the Targa 4 and Targa 4S, two models of incalculable beauty. However, Porsche has chosen the new Targa 4S to be the star of the new limited edition Heritage Design.

Heritage Design is the name Porsche has used to designate its collector models that represent what the German brand calls the “lifestyle dimension”, with a totally exclusive design that aims to take us back to another era thanks to small details blended with today’s design and technology. This special Porsche 911 Targa 4S will be the first of four models that will make up this collection, and it will be manufactured as a limited edition of 992 units for the whole world, a number that matches the internal designation of the new generation of the Porsche 911.

With the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design, and those that will follow, the brand aims to evoke, on a current vehicle, memories of design spanning from the 1950s to the 1980s, something for which the 911 is undoubtedly the perfect model. On the exterior, this special edition of the new 911 Targa 4S gives us the option of choosing from five body colours, including the exclusive Cherry Metallic shade, which are combined with white details such as the numbers on the doors and all the logos included in gold, a nod to the 1950s era.

That is not all, because practically every modification Porsche has made to the 911 Targa 4S pays homage to its history. At the front, on the wings, we find spear-shaped graphics taken directly from the world of competition, specifically referencing Porsche’s first steps in motorsport. The badge on the engine bonnet grille evokes the commemorative shield created for the Porsche 356 when the brand reached 100,000 kilometres; while on the bonnet, steering wheel and wheels appears the Porsche 1963 logo, also engraved on the seat headrests and the key case; finally, there are Carrera Exclusive Design wheels of 20 and 21 inches, accompanied by classic-look black brake calipers that evoke past eras.

Inside, there are also changes compared with the standard 911 Targa 4S, following the same line of recalling earlier years, such as the exclusive two-tone leather upholstery, which can be chosen by combining Bordeaux red leather with Olea Club leather in Atacama Beige, or black leather with Olea Club leather in Atacama Beige. The corduroy fabric returns in the Targa 4S Heritage Design, appearing on the seats and door panels, something Porsche already used in the 1950s on the Porsche 356, accompanied by perforated microfibre for the roof and numerous leather details Exclusive Manufaktur. Finally, the rev counter and the classic-look stopwatch feature green illumination, while a plaque on the dashboard indicates which unit number of this limited edition you are looking at.

There are no changes in the mechanical section, since the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design is powered by the same twin-turbo boxer engine as the 911 Carrera S, a six-cylinder 3,000 cc that delivers 450 CV, paired with an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. With this powertrain, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds using the Launch Control function, reaching a top speed of 304 km/h.

Porsche has not yet revealed the price of these exclusive 992 units, but they have announced that future owners will receive a high-quality mechanical watch, which incorporates many of the details applied to the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design.
