Porsche 911 Turbo S Pedro Rodríguez, a one-off 911 in tribute to the Mexican racing driver

Fifty years ago, the famous Mexican racing driver Pedro Rodriguez died at the Norisring street circuit in Nuremberg. The Mexican driver with the most impressive record in history has one Formula 1 Grand Prix victory, one victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, four wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona and eleven victories in the World Sportscar Championship.

In tribute to this racing legend, Porsche Mexico, together with Porsche Latin America and in collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, has created a one-off unit based on a 911 Turbo S, which will be auctioned at the end of the year, with the proceeds going to charitable causes.

911 and the Gulf Oil livery, unbeatable

This 911 Turbo S Pedro Rodríguez wears the iconic livery of Gulf Oil, the same one carried by the legendary Porsche 917 KH with which Pedro Rodríguez himself achieved eight of his eleven victories in the World Sportscar Championship.

The iconic Gulf blue, together with the orange stripe running the full length of this 911, is complemented by Turbo S Exclusive Design wheels in 20 and 21 inches, painted in high-gloss black, with the number two in black stamped on a white circle on the bonnet and doors.

Small, very special details

On the B-pillar, there is a small plaque bearing the silhouette of the 917 KH, the Mexican flag and the name and signature of driver Pedro Rodríguez. The same design also appears on the carbon-fibre lower door sills, which light up when the doors are opened.

At the rear, beneath the distinctive 911 Turbo spoiler, the names of the eight races in which the driver took victory during those winning years with the 917 have been engraved.

The interior is also one of the most special places in this beautiful 911. The interior is trimmed in graphite blue leather with orange stitching, in combination with the exterior paint, and a silhouette of the 917 is repeated on the headrests of both seats. Rodríguez’s signature also appears on the central armrest and on the carbon-fibre trim of the dashboard.

Camilo San Martín, Director of Porsche Mexico, explained that the configuration, details and specific equipment have been locked in the Porsche configurator so that this piece is unrepeatable and inimitable. A worthy creation in honour of the Latin American driver who brought the most victories and joy to the Stuttgart brand.
