Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid: 462 CV for the plug-in hybrid SUV

The Porsche Cayenne range welcomes one of its most interesting versions, the new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. The plug-in hybrid SUV is priced at 93,309 euros.

New plug-in hybrid version in the Porsche range. Now it’s the turn of the new Porsche Cayenne, with the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. An SUV that becomes the new benchmark in the SUV range of the German sports car maker thanks to its balance of performance, consumption… and price.

And it is that, with homologated CO2 emissions of just 72 g/km, the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is exempt from paying the Registration Tax, and its price on the Spanish market stands at 93,309 euros. The hybrid version therefore sits between the “base” Porsche Cayenne with 340 CV, which costs 87,580 euros, and the Cayenne S, with 440 CV and a price of 107,130 euros.

The new Cayenne hybrid is as fast as the Cayenne S, but consumes less than half and costs 14,000 euros less

The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid outperforms both in power, delivering 462 CV and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. To achieve this, the hybrid propulsion system combines the 3-litre V6 engine with 340 CV with an electric motor of 136 CV, no less than 43% more powerful than the hybrid of the previous generation. With a top speed of 253 km/h, it accelerates even faster than the Cayenne S, beating it by two tenths in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint from a standing start, stopping the clock at exactly 5 seconds.

Greater range in electric mode

The battery capacity of the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has been increased by 30 percent, from 10.8 to 14.1 kWh in this new generation, allowing the hybrid SUV to travel up to 44 km in fully electric mode, in which it can run at speeds of up to 135 km/h. According to the NEDC cycle, the homologated average consumption starts from 3.2 l/100 km.

Charging the battery of the Porsche Cayenne hybrid takes 7.5 hours from a 10-amp socket, a time that drops to 2.3 hours using the optional 7.2 kW on-board charger, provided you can plug the car into a 30-amp socket. The entire charging process can be monitored remotely via the Porsche Connect app, which also lets you search for charging stations and send them to the vehicle’s navigation system.

The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid comes as standard with the active all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system and the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) active suspension system. Optionally, it can be fitted with the body roll control system and a towing hitch. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is one of the hybrid SUVs with the greatest towing capacity, up to 3.5 tonnes.

Coinciding with the launch of the hybrid version, Porsche is adding new equipment to the Cayenne range, such as the head-up display projected onto the windscreen – a first for a Porsche – seats with massage function, the Porsche InnoDrive intelligent co-pilot system, remote control for heating, and 22-inch wheels.
