Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo: these are the keys to its success

The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is one of the most novel and sought-after vehicles of this past year. Its success is overwhelming, and today we tell you how this is possible.

The Porsche Panamera was introduced as a sports saloon in 2010 and was a completely new concept. Its success was gradual and, little by little, the Panamera became one of the best-selling models of the German manufacturer. It was six years later that the second generation reached the market, adopting the shape of a 911 but longer and with four doors. Without a doubt, we all loved it.

Today, Jose Antonio Ruiz -Communications Director of Porsche Spain- tells us a series of reasons that justify the success of the Porsche saloon. The new Panamera adopts a silhouette similar to that of its predecessor but much more streamlined and compact, giving it a more attractive design. But aesthetics is not the only key element of the Panamera.

One of the biggest novelties is the powerful hybrid engine offered among the options of the Porsche Panamera. Jose Antonio tells us that people tend to think that hybridisation simply means fewer emissions, lower consumption and greater care for the environment. But Porsche has not only taken that into account.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid combines a combustion engine with an electric one. The German brand already showed a clear mastery of hybridisation with the Porsche 918 Spyder, one of the fastest supercars in the world. In the case of the Panamera it was not going to be any different, and the saloon delivers 680 CV and is capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. These are figures typical of its sibling, the 911 GT3, a true thoroughbred sports car.

At the same time, the Turbo S E-Hybrid lets you enjoy consumption figures typical of a much less powerful car thanks to the possibility of driving in hybrid or electric mode. But there are still more details that make the Porsche Panamera very attractive.

We should highlight the versatility offered by the Sport Turismo, since it has all the good qualities of a supercar with the space of a saloon. To this we must add the cargo space of the boot, which offers an impressive 520 litres -rising to 1,390 with the rear seats folded- perfect for carrying all your luggage.

The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo also offers the option of adding a third central seat. It will never be very comfortable, but it can certainly save you in a tight spot. Its range in electric mode is 50 kilometres, a figure that greatly helps improve the consumption of the sports car and produces no emissions at all.

The design –which is the work of Michael Mauer– is something we have already discussed, but it is worth stressing, because the Panamera Sport Turismo certainly has a very attractive and captivating look. The impressive performance rounds off this list of the Porsche Panamera’s virtues, since all versions -ranging from 330 to 680 CV- offer spectacular figures.

Without a doubt, the new Panamera is destined to become the king of its segment and to stay on the throne for a long time. Few vehicles are able to offer a set of benefits as complete as the one offered by the Porsche saloon.
