The V8 engines are still present in several models of Porsche, so the German brand is prepared to continue offering the highest-quality engine blocks it can produce. One of the ways is to improve the production method and bet on its own technology so as to keep producing more and better engines of this type. To this end, it has invested 80 million euros in the new Zuffenhausen plant, where the new family of this type of engine will begin to be manufactured.

This plant will produce all the V8 models that will equip the models of the Volkswagen Group, thus centralizing all production of the new generation of these powerful and efficient engines. Production will be 200 engines per day, which means a good number of blocks to be fitted into the group’s cars. Among them, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine with 524 CV of power can be fitted, as well as the new diesel powertrain, also 4.0-litre and 416 CV, which powers the new Porsche Panamera.

A plant for the whole Volkswagen Group

Porsche wanted to show the efficiency of its facilities, but also wanted to showcase one of the most important values it has: the workers who operate in the plant. The company’s managers wanted to show that they are proud of their workers and have offered words of praise and satisfaction for their work.

To improve the work of the employees at the engine plant, Porsche has created workstations equipped with the latest technology in engine production, to improve the working conditions of those who have to spend several hours there, contributing their knowledge and skill to the company. It is therefore expected that the result of this improvement in the facilities and in each operator’s workstation will be more powerful and efficient engines to power Volkswagen cars.

This could be the last generation of V8 engines to leave the Volkswagen Group’s plants, since the group’s plans involve manufacturing more and more hybrid and electric options, seeking to eliminate CO2 emissions from its future models. Will we see it soon? For now, these engines will set the pace in the brand’s most sporting cars.
