Porsche, the luxury brand that sold more than 250,000 units in 2018
Porsche remains one of the most important brands of 2018 and shows us its best-selling models, with a sales increase compared to 2017

We know that the global economy is not doing well at all. Even if we speak of some economic recovery, we can see that the issue of wages and jobs is still not fully resolved. But even so, sales of the major luxury brands are clearly on the rise. Just take a look at Porsche, one of the most traditional and most appealing among buyers of these luxury cars. In 2018 they managed to deliver 256,255 units worldwide.
These figures represent an increase of 4% compared with sales in 2017. And this is even more remarkable if we consider the introduction of the emissions regulations and the fact that the German brand has phased out its diesel engines starting in February 2018. Two circumstances that have forced changes in the sales plans of all brands.

As far as Porsche is concerned, the largest market for the German brand was once again China. The Asian country was once again the one that sold the most cars, with a total of 80,108 units delivered, 12% more than in 2017. China is followed by the United States, the second sales point with 57,202 cars delivered, a 3% increase over the previous year. The third place goes to the local market, Germany, with 28,317 units. Interestingly, this is the only one of the three main markets where sales fell, specifically by 3%.

Porsche sales by model
Porsche shows an upward trend with its main models. Thus, the best-selling Porsche during 2018 was the Porsche Macan, the small SUV that stands as the best-selling car of Porsche. There were 86,031 deliveries of this model, which bodes well for the future of this formula of compact crossover that is also easy to handle. The second best-selling Porsche during 2018 was the Porsche Cayenne, its bigger sibling, with 71,458 deliveries.
The Porsche Panamera holds a comfortable third place, although its sales are practically halved. In total, 38,442 units were delivered. This model, however, shows the biggest sales growth, with 38% more than in 2017. The Porsche 911 remains one of the great classics and has seen a 10% increase in sales. Surprising, given that we know a new Porsche 911 was due at the end of 2018.
Finally, the Porsche 718 Cayman/Boxster came in at 24,701 units, more or less in the same order as the previous year. With these figures, we can see that new brands may enter the market, that there is a considerable battle among the established brands, but Porsche is always one of the most important and one of those that make a clear difference. If you are about to buy a luxury sports car, you already know that Porsche is precisely one of the brands with the greatest prestige and reputation in the Premium segment.
