Renault Captur electric: could it arrive in 2025?
After showing the hybrid versions, Renault wants to set itself apart with a new electric version that could arrive in 2025, with the 3rd generation.

Renault has already taken steps to begin electrifying its entire range. Electric cars are the future, and all brands have already set dates for phasing out combustion-engine cars. Although the final date is still far off, some models already announce a fully electric version immediately, or at least one that will become reality within a few years. Renault has unveiled the Austra, its electric SUV, but it won’t be the only one.
There is talk of a fully electric version of the Renault Captur, which could arrive with the third generation of the model. It will launch in 2025, so it will be the ideal moment to add several hybrid models and even an electric one to the brand’s lineup.

New generation, more performance
The new generation will bring plenty of novelties and aims to offer better performance with lower consumption and emissions. New European legislation makes it necessary to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. Renault already offers hybrid powertrains for the Captur, but with this new generation emissions will be reduced and consumption will fall.
We know the new Captur will be based on the CMFB-EV platform. It is designed for vehicles that use it to have front-wheel drive, and it has been used in the Renault Mégane E-Tech, so it is already thoroughly tested. This model could follow the path set by the Mégane E-Tech, so it could share its performance.

This means it could offer two power outputs, of 130 and 160 CV, with several battery options. The maximum would be a 60 kWh battery, although this could change before the model launches. The range offered by these batteries is between 440 and 450 kilometres, according to the WLTP cycle.
The novelties presented on the Mégane E-Tech and the Austral will also be part of this electric model. It will use the new OpenR infotainment system and a more integrated dashboard and driving position. This will improve the driving experience, complemented by a vertical screen and integrated Google systems.
Renault’s electric offering will face several interesting rivals, which could challenge this proposal. Good news for buyers, because variety is always good for the customer.
