Renault Clio 2024, everything you need to know

Over the coming months, the Renault Clio will receive an update designed to keep the model at the top of its segment.

The Renault Clio will be updated in the coming months so it can go head-to-head with the Peugeot 208. In this way, the brand with the diamond will add much more technology and style to the model. The new Renault Clio will share the market with the Renault 5 electric, as well as the Toyota Yaris and the Volkswagen Polo. The combustion-engine version is practically ready.

At the front, the new boomerang-shaped LED light units stand out. This is not a surprise detail: Gilles Vidal, head of design at Renault, spent part of his career at Peugeot. The approach at Renault is slightly different, with thicker DRLs below the aggressive headlights, an evolution of the theme first shown on the Scenic E-Tech concept. Other changes include a simpler grille with the new Renault emblem and the removal of air intakes from the side bumpers.

The sculpted profile of the Renault Clio will probably stay as it is, as is the case with most updates, but the company will likely add new alloy wheel designs and new color options. We have no spy photos of the rear, but we expect it to gain slimmer, elongated LED taillights, as on other Renault models. This will allow it to differentiate itself from the previous fourth-generation Clio, which certainly looked very similar to the current fifth-generation model.

Since this is a facelift and not a new generation, we don’t expect radical changes inside the cabin. The Clio will therefore likely keep its digital interior and will not adopt the newer OpenR setup found in the Megane E-Tech and Austral. However, the 9.3-inch touchscreen and the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster found in the top Clio versions could be rolled out to more variants, while benefiting from sharper graphics and new features thanks to more recent software.

The company will also add more Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to the mix, to be more competitive with new rivals and maintain a higher score in Euro NCAP tests. The Clio’s powertrain lineup is not expected to change drastically, although the electrified versions will play a bigger role. Renault already offers a full hybrid combining a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with two electric motors, a battery and a sophisticated gearbox.

The entry-level models are also expected to keep the turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which is also available in a bi-fuel version compatible with LPG. There is a possibility of the mild-hybrid 1.3 TCe petrol from the Austral. The future of the 1.5-liter diesel is also uncertain, as it will be difficult for Renault to make it comply with the upcoming Euro 7 emissions standards.
