Renault Mégane R.S Trophy: a new warrior arrives with 300 CV and a strong appetite for hot hatch performance
Renault has just unveiled the new Mégane R.S Trophy, the most radical version of the French compact, capable of delivering 300 CV of power and 420 Nm of torque.

Sports compacts have been growing strongly for a long time, to the point of reaching figures that, until not long ago, were reserved for anyone who was not driving a supercar. Renault has been involved in the world of hot hatches since time immemorial, which has given it a great deal of experience. The French brand has just announced the most radical version of its sports compact par excellence, the Mégane R.S Trophy, a vehicle that takes everything known so far to the next level.
Renault already has one of the most effective compacts on the tarmac, but it has decided that it was time to offer the world the chance to go further. The Trophy name has always been placed on the rear of the most radical models from the diamond brand, and this time was no different. Thanks to a new tuning of the engine and various components, Renault has brought a very tough and interesting rival to this sports compact war.
The French brand has made sure to incorporate numerous changes but, at the same time, has respected the styling of the standard Mégane R.S in many aspects. However, it has reserved many changes for the Trophy’s mechanics, which affect the engine, the chassis and various interior components, making the new creation from the diamond brand more radical than ever.

At the heart of the new Renault Mégane R.S Trophy is a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of delivering 300 CV of power and 420 Nm of torque -with the EDC gearbox-, figures that catapult the French compact to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. At the same time, the new Mégane R.S Trophy can reach a top speed of 260 km/h, but raw power is not everything, and Renault proves it with new components.
The 4Control four-wheel drive will also be present in this new, supercharged Mégane, offering much more dynamic and faster grip and cornering. At the same time, the French brand fits the Cup chassis as standard, which includes a Torsen-type limited-slip differential, bi-material brakes and 19-inch wheels that are much lighter than those on the Mégane R.S. This version of the Mégane will be available with both a manual gearbox and the EDC dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the interior has benefited from new bucket seats signed by Recaro and trimmed in Alcantara, an essential component in a vehicle with the characteristics of the Mégane R.S Trophy. For the moment we do not know the price of this even more radical version of the French compact, but the wait will surely not be much longer.
