Renault Trafic Van E-Tech: the electric version of the well-known French van arrives

The French brand has presented the electric version of its commercial vehicle, which is aesthetically identical to the already well-known combustion-engine version.

Renault has presented the electric version of the most popular commercial vehicle in the brand’s range. The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech has arrived to complete the range of this type of vehicle it offers. This variant draws on the knowledge and experience of the French brand to offer an interesting and functional vehicle.

The electric version of the Renault Trafic is based on the fourth-generation Trafic, which debuted in 2020. In fact, its exterior appearance is the same as that of the combustion-engine version. It is distinguished by the E-Tech logo visible on the rear door, which certifies its place in the electric range.

It is available in two lengths and heights. The shorter version measures 5,080 millimetres in length, while the longer version measures 5,480 millimetres. Height starts at 1,967 millimetres, and there is a taller version reaching 2,498 millimetres. With these dimensions, the van offers a load capacity of between 5.8 and 8.9 cubic metres.

The payload is rated at 1,100 kg and it can tow up to 750 kg. A chassis-cab version has also been made available, which will be offered for various conversions. Buyers will thus be able to fit it with a refrigerated cabin and other options to meet their needs.

Motor and battery

As for the drivetrain, the Renault van features a single motor, which delivers 90 kW, equivalent to 122 CV. This motor offers somewhat more than the entry-level diesel engine, so it sits above it. As for the battery, it is a 54 kWh pack, since it is the same pack used in the Renault Master E-Tech.

Range is rated at 240 kilometres under the WLTP cycle, so it can be used both for last-mile deliveries and for intercity journeys between nearby cities. The battery can be charged with a 7 kW AC charger, a 22 kW AC charger, and a 50 kW DC charger.

A passenger-transport version is expected to be presented later, following on from the one designed for carrying passengers. This was previewed a few weeks ago with the presentation of the Hippie Caviar Motel motorhome.
