Hennessey Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6x6, a new generation of the six-wheeled beast is unveiled

Hennessey has done it again and brings us a new generation of its star six-wheeled pick-up, the all-new Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6×6

Earlier this year Hennessey returned with one of its most anticipated proposals: the VelociRaptor 600, a build based on the ever-desirable Ford F-150 Raptor of the latest generation. This pick-up has always been the perfect base to be evolved, although it already comes with a large number of first-class components as standard, which also makes it ideal for use on any type of terrain and in extreme conditions.

But Hennessey is also a specialist at taking every one of its builds a step further, which is why for several years it has delighted with crazy and spectacular creations, such as the Goliath 6×6, among others, based on the Chevrolet Silverado. Logically, this also had to happen with its star pick-up, the VelociRaptor, which has already adopted this six-wheel configuration in previous builds and now reaches its third generation with the new Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6×6.

Let’s take it step by step, starting with the heart of the Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6×6, which remains the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine used by the standard F-150 Raptor, delivering 456 CV and 692 Nm of torque. This engine receives a series of upgrades to the turbo, the intercooler and the air intake, as well as the engine control unit, to reach an output of 565 CV and torque of 911 Nm. As you can see, its power is slightly lower than the VelociRaptor 600, but its torque increases, making it even more capable thanks to the added axle.

This brings us precisely to the rear axle that has been added. To do so, Hennessey has replaced the original 1,670 mm housing with a new one that extends to 2,400 mm, allowing the load capacity to be increased by 45%. Both rear axles feature a dual-locking differential and, according to the specialist himself, traction has been increased by up to 50%, making it capable of handling practically any situation and terrain.

But this is not all that makes the Hennessey Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6×6 a highly capable vehicle and not merely a visual one. The tuner has also fitted a lift kit and Fox suspensions that raise its height by 70 mm, allowing better approach and departure angles that would otherwise be reduced due to its greater length. This is also combined with new 20-inch wheels fitted with 37-inch off-road tyres, as well as new front and rear bumpers and LED lights.

All this display of technology and visual presence comes at a price, which Hennessey has set at 399,950 dollars, which already includes the new F-150 Raptor, roughly 399,570 euros at the current exchange rate.
