Rivian offers improvements to the R1T pick-up through its latest update

The latest software update announced by Rivian will include improvements in driving and safety for all models to enhance their usability.

Rivian R1T pick-up eléctrico

The Rivian R1T is an electric pick-up that aims to fill a niche not yet covered by any manufacturer, although there are other models that aim to reach the market soon or have already begun delivering to buyers, such as the Hummer EV. The Rivian R1T wants to be an efficient and functional vehicle, so it aims to offer all the necessary features to be the most desired in its segment.

To begin with, the latest software update has included several new features that increase its usefulness and functionality. The Arena mode, included in this update, will allow the electric vehicle to be more efficient when driving on sand. A feature that will probably not be used under normal circumstances, but can prove very useful when facing this type of terrain.

This is not unusual, as it can be driven through deserts or beaches, since it is sold in several markets where this type of terrain is quite common. With this driving mode, the Rivian optimizes throttle response, traction and stability control so that the vehicle continues to deliver steady forward momentum.

A look toward Tesla

Rivian looks toward Tesla and its safety features, so it has also included the Pet mode in its models. This allows the pet to stay in the car at a given time. The system manages the climate control and creates a comfortable environment while the driver is not present. In the case of Tesla, a notice on the screen tells casual onlookers that the animal is in good condition and does not need help. It remains to be seen whether this message will also exist in the case of Rivian.

The Sentry mode has also been replicated in this vehicle. The surveillance system activates the exterior cameras when it detects the presence of someone, activates the alarm if necessary, and alerts the owner of incidents via smartphone.

For now, the date on which these functions will be activated is unknown, nor whether it will be a general update or can be activated individually by each owner. What is expected is that all R1T and R1S SUV owners will have these new systems on board.
