Spy photos: The Porsche 918 Spyder wrapped in Martini livery
The Porsche 918 Spyder laps the Nürburgring wearing a Martini outfit to distract from what really matters, its aerodynamics.
The main goal right now is to finish fine-tuning the successor to the Carrera GT, the 918 Spyder, a vehicle capable of thrilling us with every burst of acceleration, but if we treat it with care its consumption will be closer to that of a diesel city car than to that of a supercar with more than 500 CV of power.
They are working on it. If you don’t believe it, look at the images of the pre-production model wearing those Martini logos as it rounds one of the most famous corners of the old Nürburgring. Perhaps the Porsche with those stickers was meant to divert our attention from what really matters about this car: the new aerodynamic setups located at the four corners of the 918 Spyder.
This model also seems to have a slightly larger rear wing than the earlier prototypes. One explanation for these changes would be to have perfect aerodynamics for the track. Nothing more than that.
Its exterior appears to be nearing completion, but looking closely, it still carries the rear lights of a 911. We will have to keep waiting for the definitive model.
As we announced a few months ago, this Porsche will feature plug-in technology to make the most of every drop of fuel that enters the 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine. It will also have two small electric motors that, combined with the combustion engine, will deliver a total output of no less than 770 CV. It will reach the market with a starting price of €675,000.
