Ssangyong Rexton W 4×4 Review (Equipment, Price and Verdict)
Final part of the review of the Ssangyong Rexton W 4×4, an off-roader we have tested with the 155 hp diesel engine. In this part we cover the Rexton W prices, standard equipment and our verdict on the car.

After several days behind the wheel of the new Ssangyong Rexton W 4×4, it is time to wrap up the review. So far we have told you everything about the 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 155 CV, developed by AVL, and we covered the powertrain, handling, off-road capabilities and fuel consumption in the first part of the review.
In the second part we analysed the exterior design of this renewed third generation, as well as the space it offers its occupants, with seating for up to seven. Now, in the third part, we turn to the equipment, the price and our verdict on the car.
Equipment

Within the equipment, we start by reviewing the standard safety equipment fitted to a Rexton W. The safety list includes: dual front airbags, side airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), ABS + EBD, ARP (Active Rollover Protection), BAS (Brake Assist System), HDC (Hill Descent Control) and ISOFIX mounts on the rear seats.
The Rexton W’s equipment is structured across two trim levels, both well equipped: Premium Plus and Limited. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, a CD-MP3 radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a touchscreen navigation system, an anti-theft alarm, cruise control, leather seats, seven seats and 16-inch alloy wheels, among other features.

Within the equipment of our test unit, the navigation system worked well and the speakers sounded powerful. The seven seats come as standard, and the navigation unit is an external one mounted on the upper part of the dashboard.
Only a few items are missing from that equipment list, such as heated leather seats, at least in the best-equipped version, or the on-board computer, which is basic. I don’t understand how it can be missing on a modern car that has other equipment.

Overall Verdict

The Ssangyong Rexton W 4×4 is a purist car, for anyone who needs a genuine 4×4 with good off-road capabilities. That is where the car moves best, that is, off the tarmac. We found the engine good, and it produces enough power to move the Rexton W with ease, although on the road it is not as efficient as an SUV.
Another advantage is its price: there are few genuine 4x4s with seven seats for less than €30,000, so if you are looking for space and off-road ability, it is an interesting car. In my view the 4×2 versions are less appealing, because although the car is huge and very well equipped for that price, compared with other 4×2 models the Rexton W comes off worse in terms of dynamics.
There is plenty of space, both in the front and rear seats. That said, the third row is only really suitable in an emergency or for children. And the equipment is very complete, which is worth considering against other rivals.
