Strong growth in European sales of Tesla in the second quarter of 2026
The advanced technology and level of safety offered by Tesla vehicles seems to be making buyers’ past reluctance fade into oblivion.
After a bittersweet 2025 with some clearly improvable results, Tesla has started 2026 on a much better footing. In the second quarter of 2026, the North American manufacturer delivered 480,126 vehicles, representing a 25 percent increase over the 384,122 units handed over to its customers in the same period of 2025. This solid performance has allowed the company to significantly reduce its inventory levels.
The quarter’s good results were not a surprise, however, as monthly registration data in several countries had already foreshadowed them. In Germany, for example, Tesla recorded 5,111 new registrations in May, an increase of 322.4 percent according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority. Meanwhile, in Norway, one of its key markets, it led the brand ranking with 3,222 registrations and a market share of 16.5 percent.

On top of all this, the company announced plans to increase production at its Grünheide plant. From the assembly line of this German factory, 7,500 Model Y units a week will eventually roll out, instead of the current 5,000.
Outside Europe, growth is more limited, although the decline in earlier quarters of 2025 was also smaller
Globally, Tesla produced 451,768 vehicles in the second quarter of 2026, 10 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. Unlike 2025, when it produced more than it sold and built up its stocks, the trend has now reversed: deliveries exceeded production and inventory fell by 28,358 units.
Compared with the first quarter of 2026, the progress is also significant. While 358,023 vehicles were delivered between January and March, deliveries in the second quarter grew by 34 percent, with production remaining practically stable.

These results suggest that Tesla is regaining its growth path after its deliveries fell by 9.1 percent in 2025, to around 1.6 million vehicles. However, these figures should be interpreted with caution and we should not celebrate prematurely. The coming quarters will be crucial in determining whether this good moment for Tesla is just a one-off or is consolidating into a solid trend.
