Suzuki Jimny 2022, the Japanese off-roader gets updates in equipment and technology
Suzuki has just unveiled the new features coming to the revamped Jimny for Japan, offering better efficiency and more safety equipment

Since its launch in the early 1970s, the Suzuki Jimny has become one of the most iconic and long-lasting off-roaders in history. Conceived as a kei car capable of tackling any terrain, this model has maintained its position over the years while preserving its DNA across four generations.
The fourth and final generation of the model, born in 2018, will undergo several changes which, although not yet confirmed for the European continent, are very likely to arrive, as one of the major novelties of the renewal is that it will be more efficient. This is a key factor that has caused Suzuki many headaches when marketing the Jimny in the old continent, where it is currently sold as a commercial vehicle.
New features for all versions
These new features will go directly to the Japanese market, where the small off-roader is sold in two versions: the Jimny Sierra (the version we have in Europe) and the Jimny (kei car type, a vehicle category that enjoys tax advantages in Japan).

Greater efficiency
As we have already told you, the big news for the new Suzuki Jimny 2022 is its improved efficiency. This has been made possible thanks to the implementation of the Start&Stop function for vehicles equipped with the four-speed automatic gearbox. With this function, as long as the vehicle is in front-wheel-drive mode instead of four-wheel drive, fuel consumption and emissions will be reduced.
The other novelty in the Jimny’s renewal is an automatic headlight activation system for both versions, expanding its safety equipment. Finally, to close the list of new features in this renewal, a cover will be fitted for the spare wheel inserted in the rear tailgate of the boot.

The starting price for the Suzuki Jimny in the Japanese market is 11,500 euros at the current exchange rate, and 13,900 euros for the Jimny Sierra.
In addition to these new features, the introduction into the Jimny range next year, 2022, of the five-door variant with a longer body, which was recently spotted during testing, is also expected.
