Tayron: the SUV from Volkswagen that promises to conquer Europe from Wolfsburg
Volkswagen begins production of the Tayron at Wolfsburg, the iconic plant that has built more than 48 million cars, hosts the premium SUV with hybrid technology and up to 7 seats
Volkswagen has taken a firm step toward the future with the start of series production of the Tayron, its new premium SUV with up to seven seats. This model not only expands the brand’s range, but also reaffirms the central role of the Wolfsburg plant, which celebrates yet another success in a history that already exceeds 48 million vehicles produced.
The Tayron is the fourth model to join the production lines at Wolfsburg, alongside the Golf, Tiguan and Touran. With this launch, the most important plant of Volkswagen strengthens its reputation as a global benchmark in the automotive industry. According to Christian Vollmer, member of the Executive Committee of Volkswagen, Wolfsburg remains a model to follow within the group’s production network, even in difficult times.
The SUV, which replaces the successful Tiguan Allspace, combines the best of German engineering with a range of modern and sustainable powertrains, including two new plug-in hybrids with electric ranges of more than 100 kilometres and a combined range of up to 850 km.

The effort behind the Tayron
The plant director, Uwe Schwartz, highlighted the flawless collaboration between the production, technical development and purchasing teams, which made it possible to integrate the Tayron on assembly line 4 alongside the Tiguan without interrupting processes. Schwartz acknowledged the work of the employees, describing it as an achievement the whole plant can be proud of.
For his part, Jürgen Mahnkopf, deputy chairman of the works council, stressed that the Tayron will not only contribute to the commercial success of Volkswagen, but also to the job security at the Wolfsburg plant, especially at a time when the automotive industry faces major challenges.

An SUV designed to succeed in Europe and beyond
The first Tayron to leave the production line this week, finished in an elegant Ultra Violet Metallic colour, was equipped with a 2.0 TDI engine producing 193 CV and a panoramic roof. This model, the second-largest SUV of Volkswagen in Europe after the Touareg, promises to become a sales success when it reaches dealerships in March.
Among its standout features are the choice of seven efficient engines, including the aforementioned plug-in hybrids, and a design geared toward comfort and versatility, ideal for families and adventurers.

Wolfsburg: the heart of Volkswagen
With the Tayron, Wolfsburg reaffirms its position as the birthplace of some of Volkswagen’s greatest successes, marking a new milestone in a story that already spans more than 48 million cars produced. This SUV represents more than a new model; it embodies the plant’s ability to adapt and to overcome the challenges of the modern automotive industry.
