Tesla announces a new price cut, but for now, only in the United States

The American manufacturer wants to keep growing and will do so by making its models more accessible through a price reduction, although for now only in the US.

Earlier this year, Tesla announced a major price cut across all its models, a move that surprised every market and prompted many manufacturers to follow the path set by the American brand. This led several brands to lower the prices of their electric models. Now, Americans are making another sharp turn and are announcing another price cut.

In this case, for the moment it is limited to the US market, although it could extend to other markets in the near future. On the American configurator, Tesla shows a 1,000 euro reduction in the price of the Tesla Model 3. Looking at the Model Y, the discount applied is 2,000 euros.

As for the brand’s top models, the Model X Plaid and the Model S Plaid see a 5,000 dollar reduction in their final price, with the Model S Plaid now listed at 104,990 dollars. This reduction of between 6 and 9% in price allows these versions to include full self-driving capability at the same price as the car without it in 2022.

The Tesla Model Y has dropped in price by 20%, while the price of the Model 3 has seen a 11% decrease. And all of this within a period of just three months. The reason behind this move by Tesla is the difficulty of obtaining the 7,500 dollar incentives offered by the US government, so the brand has wanted to make its cars more accessible with a price reduction.

However, Tesla’s sales continue to grow worldwide and the performance of each vehicle sold has increased. For this reason, it can afford to reduce prices across the board and maintain its revenue volume. The expectation is to reach 1.8 million vehicles produced in 2023, 37% more than in 2022. Last year it managed to grow by 40%, so they want to continue on this growth path this year as well.
