The 2019 Nissan Qashqai expands its engine range with the addition of a new diesel engine, and adds one more diesel version of the 1.5 dCi block

If we talk about the benchmarks among 2019 SUVs, it is essential to mention that the best-selling crossover in Europe and in Spain, and the third best-selling car in Spain in 2018, is the Nissan Qashqai.

And, to maintain its dominance, the 2019 Nissan Qashqai debuts a new diesel engine so as to match or improve on the 31,200 units registered in our country during the previous year.

With this new block, the Nissan Qashqai diesel range now totals four different versions. Four engines that share the same pattern: diesel fuel supply.

The 2019 Nissan Qashqai debuts the 1.7 dCi engine

Nissan QashqaiIndeed, thanks to the introduction of the new 1.7 dCi engine, the 2019 Nissan Qashqai diesel range grows to four options. The new block delivers a noteworthy 150 CV at 3,500 rpm and a considerable torque of 340 Nm from as low as 1,750 rpm.

Furthermore, this new 1.7 dCi engine of the Nissan Qashqai relies on a variable turbo that works efficiently, an intercooler that reduces temperature through the use of water, and which is integrated with the intake manifold to also lower air temperature and cylinder pressure, resulting in more efficient combustion.

Likewise, to combat and reduce the emission of toxic gases, it features a more effective exhaust gas recirculation system that lowers nitrogen oxide emissions. It also incorporates selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology with AdBlue to combat the emissions of the aforementioned NOx.

Nissan QashqaiAn SUV that aims to show its capabilities beyond the asphalt. For this new 1.7 dCi engine, it offers a six-speed manual gearbox, in 2WD two-wheel-drive configuration or 4WD all-wheel drive, or an X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission, inevitably paired with four-wheel drive.

In this way, it ensures the best response depending on the driving style, delivering rapid and progressive acceleration.

Fuel consumption of the Nissan Qashqai 1.7 dCi

This 1.7 dCi engine of the 2019 Nissan Qashqai features a variable-displacement oil pump to improve fuel efficiency and reduce consumption and gas emissions.

The fuel consumption of the Nissan Qashqai 1.7 dCi is homologated under the NEDC cycle at 4.7–4.8 for the six-speed manual gearbox 2WD version; 5.1–5.2 for the same gearbox in the 4WD version; and 5.5–5.8 for the Xtronic gearbox and 4WD version.

The new variant is a more modest alternative. Consequently, it produces 115 CV of power at 3,500 rpm and 285 Nm at 2,000 rpm, and is mandatorily paired with the six-speed manual gearbox.

This configuration was the one we got to know at the end of last year. The 1.5 dCi engine was presented at the end of 2018, and its consumption has been established, also under the NEDC cycle, at 4.0–4.2 litres of diesel per 100 km.
