The 3 premium electric SUVs of Chinese origin with good range on sale in Spain

Technical analysis and comparison of the premium Chinese electric SUVs with the highest WLTP-certified range currently available on the Spanish market. Verifiable ranking with data, indicative prices and brand context.

The Chinese push into the premium electric SUV segment has stopped being a promise and become a measurable reality. Spain, a key market for this new generation of manufacturers, is already receiving tall saloons with ranges that rival—and in some cases exceed—those of established European offerings, but with a noticeably more aggressive price positioning. At Highmotor we have cross-checked technical specifications, WLTP certifications and real dealership availability to build an honest ranking of the premium Chinese electric SUVs with the longest range on sale nationwide.

Before we get into it, a note: all prices mentioned below correspond to the manufacturer’s recommended retail price (RRP), without accounting for dealer discounts, promotional campaigns, financing plans or state or regional aid.

Why are Chinese electric SUVs redefining the premium segment in Spain?

For years, premium and Chinese were terms that European buyers did not associate. That mental framework has been blown apart. Groups such as Geely—owner of Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and Smart—have spent more than a decade investing in modular electric platforms that now share architecture with prestigious European vehicles. BYD, for its part, vertically controls production of Blade batteries, which allows it to offer competitive energy densities at contained costs. MG, under the SAIC umbrella, has capitalised on a historic British name to break into Europe’s best-selling lists. And more recent names such as LEPAS or the revived EBRO complete an offer that can no longer be ignored.

The consequence for the Spanish consumer is direct: more real-world range for fewer euros, with equipment that five years ago was the preserve of Germany.

Ranking criteria: WLTP range, real availability and value for money

To draw up this list we applied three strict filters. First, WLTP-certified range as the main yardstick. Second, effective availability in the Spanish dealer network. Third, premium positioning, understood as finish, on-board technology and performance above the generalist electric SUV.

Geely Ex5 Europe 00009

1. Geely E5 — from approximately €36,000

The Geely E5 is the bid by the Hangzhou giant to conquer Europe through the front door. Built on the GEA platform, this electric compact SUV is certified at around 430 km WLTP with a 60.2 kWh LFP battery, and its front motor delivers 160 kW (218 CV). Geely has paid particular attention to the cabin: 15.4-inch central screen, Flyme Auto sound and materials that feel class-leading. The Geely brand also backs it with a generous warranty that reassures buyers still wary of the leap.

Byd Sealion 7 16

2. BYD Sealion 7 — from approximately €47,000

BYD has landed in Spain with a broad range, and the Sealion 7 is its mid-to-large electric coupé SUV. On the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, it reaches up to 502 km WLTP in the rear-wheel-drive Comfort version, thanks to the 82.5 kWh Blade battery. The AWD Excellence versions sacrifice some range in exchange for 390 kW combined and a 0–100 km/h time below 5 seconds. Carefully tuned dynamics, well-calibrated suspension and an interior that rivals German offerings costing ten thousand euros more.
