Thanks to Porsche Classic, the 911, Boxster, Cayman and Cayenne models from the mid-2000s will be able to upgrade their infotainment system

Pccm Plus Porsche Classic (4)

Owning a Porsche that is a few years old means more than owning a classic sports car: first, because you hold in your hands a piece created by the manufacturer from Stuttgart, and second, because you know you can count at all times on the support of Porsche Classic, the department created by the brand to preserve and maintain the brand’s classics through original spare parts, restoration and repair.

Among other things, specifically since 2020, Porsche Classic has offered the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) and the Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) infotainment systems, which can be fitted both to older and to more modern vehicles. They have been a success, and proof of this is that shortly after their launch, owners of the first 911s of the 997 generation were asking for the same thing, something that Porsche listened to.

They will not be the only ones, because since this 2023 both the models of the 911 of the 997 generation as well as the Boxster and Cayman of the 987 generation have become part of Porsche Classic, so they can now benefit from the PCCM and PCCM Plus infotainment systems, to which the Cayenne E1 must be added, as it will also be able to fit these multimedia systems.

It should be noted that all the models mentioned above could already optionally be fitted with the second-generation PCM system, while those that did not have it were equipped with the CDR 23 CD radio (Cayenne) and the CDR 24 CD radio (Boxster/Cayman). Regardless of this, all of them will be able to fit the PCCM Plus, which integrates seamlessly with the other elements surrounding it in the centre console and is compatible with peripheral components such as the amplifier, speakers or antenna, and the navigation screen in the instrument cluster remains fully functional.

The PCCM Plus infotainment system consists of a 7-inch touchscreen and includes functions such as DAB+ digital radio, on-board navigation with Porsche-specific POIs (points of interest) displayed in 2D or 3D, multimedia playback via USB memory, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and making phone calls. In addition, in the 911, Boxster and Cayman it will allow personal vehicle settings to be stored and, depending on the car’s equipment, this memory function can also be used for the lights, windscreen wipers, climate control and door locking.

The new PCCM Plus, with an SD memory card included, will have a final price in Spain of 1,635 euros.
