A110 Alpine Coupés Sports Cars
The Alpine A110 joins the fleet of the French Gendarmerie
The popular French model is back on patrol after several decades in the French Gendarmerie fleet, in its entry-level version and police colours

Law enforcement agencies use several types of vehicles to fight crime and make their presence felt on the streets. The French Gendarmerie is no exception when it comes to choosing powerful, eye-catching vehicles to be highly visible, and it has just received the first units of the Alpine 110 that will enter service shortly.
These are the first cars of this model that will join the French police fleet over the next four years. A total of 26 units of this model dressed in the French police livery will patrol across the French countryside. Of these, two will be reserved for training exercises for officers, and the rest will mainly patrol motorways and dual carriageways.

Alpine A110 entry-level version
The version chosen for police service is the entry-level one. The bodywork features the dark blue colour typical of the police, along with the decals that identify it as part of the fleet. A emergency light has been fitted on the roof, in the form of a small lamp that emits the blue light typical of this type of vehicle. There are two more on the dashboard and two more on the rear window, which make it highly visible.

These two rear lights frame an LED panel that displays messages to drivers on the road, which makes it a very suitable vehicle for traffic control. Inside, it has been fitted with a kit specific to the Gendarmerie, including a radio, controls for the emergency lights and siren, and the co-driver has access to a tablet with various applications and functions specific to the law enforcement agency.
The engine fitted to this variant is a 1.8-litre unit that produces 254 CV. The higher versions of this model reach 300 CV, so it has more than enough power to fulfil its role, although it is not the most effective.
It is no surprise that this model is taking on duties with the Gendarmerie, since between 1966 and 1973 it was already a police car. From that date until 1987 it was replaced by the Alpine A310. The model’s return means it is back in the fleet of the French national police.
