The Audi e-tron GT will be the brand's first electric sports car, but not its only one

Audi intends to launch a total of 20 electric models in its range by 2025, and the e-tron GT will be one of the first to join this line-up.

Electric vehicles are a reality, and more and more users are showing a preference for these models over traditional combustion ones. At first, we associated electricity with small or city cars, but today this concept has changed a great deal. Brands such as Audi have wanted to show us that sportiness, luxury and comfort can go hand in hand with electric motors , and we won’t have to wait long to see that reality on our streets.

The four-ring brand already announced at the Geneva Motor Show its clear intention to electrify several models in its range. We saw this reflected in the Audi e-tron, an SUV with a design not far removed from what could be the future production Q8, and which, at the same time, has a 100% electric powertrain under its skin. However, the German company was not satisfied with the presentation of this concept car and has whetted our appetite with the e-tron GT.

It is a Audi model with a clear sporty character whose main attraction would be the electric powertrain that will bring it to life. For the moment we have not obtained much data from the German company, but they have treated us to an image in which we can see several features of this prototype.

The lines that give shape to the e-tron -the name shared by all future electric Audi models- GT suggest a muscular body with imposing features that exude sportiness and elegance everywhere. This combination will introduce a new type of vehicle into the brand, namely a coupé whose exclusivity will be on a par with the flagship of the brand, the A8. Without a doubt, this model will be a tough competitor for the future BMW 8 Series and the Mercedes S-Class Coupé, at least in terms of styling, since for the moment we do not know any details about its mechanics.

That is right, the future e-tron GT presents itself for now as a real unknown to us, but our unceasing love for cars makes us question several things about this concept car. We can assume it will share several elements with other Volkswagen Group vehicles that rely on batteries as their motors, such as the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo, which offers 600 CV of power.

Without a doubt, an interesting future lies ahead for the four-ring brand, since they have confirmed that they intend to have 20 electric models in their ranks by 2025. Little by little, vehicles powered exclusively by battery will be within our reach and Audi wants to be one of the first to offer them.
