The Audi SQ5 more ferocious than ever after going through ABT's hands

Audi and ABT have once again teamed up with the aim of creating a much more radical SQ5. The tuner has managed to extract 425 CV and 550 Nm of torque from the V6.

ABT leaves no stone unturned, and even more so when they are of Audi, since the German tuner not only has a predilection for models from the four-ring brand, but also knows how to modify them to perfection. On this occasion ABT has decided that it was the turn of the Audi SQ5, an SUV with sporty characteristics that provide a very well-balanced whole, but the tuner -as is customary- has wanted to go further and take the German model to a level above.

The SQ5 was born with the first generation of the Q5, except that on that occasion it housed a diesel-fuelled engine. For this second version, the engineers at Audi decided to introduce the model directly with a petrol engine, with the intention of offering performance and capabilities similar to those of the competition. ABT, even happier than with the previous generation, has decided to provide it with a tune in every respect for the SQ5, something reflected both mechanically and aesthetically.

The appearance of a new bumper gives the German SUV a much rougher and more aggressive look, something also accentuated by the front, which houses two large air intakes with the intention of giving the SQ5 a more muscular appearance. As for the rear, we find a small duckbill-style spoiler that helps give a much sportier look, but, without a doubt, ABT has saved the best for the diffuser.

The German tuner is not a fan of fake exhaust outlets, so it has decided to bring them back with a series of modifications. Thanks to these, we can enjoy four cylindrical outlets, which will transmit the wonderful melody generated by the turbocharged V6 hidden under the bonnet and, at the same time, this has also undergone a series of modifications.

As standard, the SQ5 features a 3.0-litre V6 capable of producing 354 CV of power and 470 Nm of torque, figures that are paltry for ABT, so they have decided to make a small adjustment. After certain modifications to the exhaust and the engine ECU, the German tuner has managed to extract 425 CV and 550 Nm of torque, numbers more than sufficient to dethrone vehicles whose concept differs in every respect from that of the Audi SQ5.

At the same time, ABT has also made a series of modifications to the suspension, allowing the height of the SQ5 to be lowered by between 35 and 60 mm with the aim of offering a sportier look and better cornering. For the moment we do not know official prices for this modification, but we will know much more at the Geneva Motor Show with ABT’s presence.
