The big question about GM's electric future: Cruze or Spark?

Not long ago we were showing you information about the Ford Focus Electric, the future workhorse of Ford among electric cars. GM won’t be left behind, not by a long shot, since it is still being studied which will be its 100% electric vehicle that will burst onto the market.

These days the decision is between some electric variant of the Spark or even the Cruze. Several Spark EV prototypes have already been seen circulating in different configurations under the names Beat or Matiz in India and Korea, as has the electric Cruze, but GM has not yet made a final decision.

The particularities of each market have shaped GM’s indecision. While the Spark would be suitable for the European market, it would not be as suitable for North America, which would favour the Cruze. Especially considering that the Cruze is the sales star in the USA.

On the Asian market side, the Spark/Beat/Matiz would fit GM’s plans better, but there are concerns about the inability of the electricity grids in India, Korea or China to supply so many models, if the brand’s electric cars sell very well in those places.

Officially, GM has not yet commented, but its hybrid and electric division promises that by the end of the year “there will be news”. Which do you think would be the best model to adapt: the Spark or the Cruze?
