The new BMW i3 is generating a great deal of anticipation, and order books are expected to open in June instead of in autumn 2026.

The anticipation generated by the BMW i3 in every market has led the German brand to bring forward the possibility of reserving the model ahead of schedule. The order book was expected to open during the last quarter of the year, but it seems that the vehicle’s presentation has caused many prospective customers to show interest in it.

The interest in this model is justified because it represents the BMW 3 Series’ move into electric mobility, so many drivers want to get closer to the model and enjoy the features of this saloon but with an electric drivetrain.

The version that will be the first to go on sale will be called the 1st Edition, and orders will be taken from 18 June. This date was set after the model’s presentation at the Munich Motor Show, where it was very well received and where visitors showed strong demand for information.

Apparently, the reception was better than that received by the iX3, which already received 50,000 orders within a few months and of which 10,000 units were sold across Europe in just two months. Moreover, the interest does not come only from the German market: at other motor shows, such as the Beijing Auto Show, it has also aroused the interest of attendees.

So far, only one version of the BMW i3 has been shown, which has an output of 350 kW, equivalent to 469 CV, with all-wheel drive using two motors. Apparently, it offers a range of up to 900 kilometres, which is no small feat.

Despite the earlier opening of orders, production of the BMW i3 has not been brought forward and is scheduled to begin in August of this year. This raises doubts, since if more orders are received than expected, BMW may struggle to deliver all the units requested within the planned time.
