BMW Serie 5 Sedans Sports Cars
The BMW M550i could get the engine from the M850i, according to a German publication
It could arrive by the end of 2019 and would allow the most powerful version of the 5 Series to surpass the current output, and other models are expected to receive this engine as well

When we think of the most radical versions of BMW, we cannot help but think of the M range, which equips the Bavarian brand’s models with the most powerful engines in each range and the technical equipment needed to control the power and performance of each model. But from time to time, even the most radical can be taken further, and according to BMWBLOG, a publication focused on the German brand and its models, the engine fitted to the BMW M850i could make its way into the BMW M550i within a few months.
Currently, the BMW M550i has an engine producing 456 CV and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, truly spectacular figures. The engine in the new BMW 850i raises output to 523 CV, with maximum torque remaining at 750 Nm. If this engine makes its way into the BMW M550i, the model would gain 67 CV and 100 Nm of additional torque. If acceleration with the current engine is set at 4 seconds, it could possibly shave a few tenths off that time and slightly reduce the time needed to reach 100 km/h.

The engine swap could happen by the end of 2019, so there may still be some changes regarding this replacement. In any case, it is not expected to be limited to a single model. The recently launched BMW X5 xDrive50i could also receive this new powertrain, so this new version of the model would be named BMW M50i.
Beyond these existing models, new versions of the BMW X6 and BMW X7 with this engine will also arrive, which will also carry the M50i name and will offer enthusiasts of high-performance cars new experiences with the most powerful variants of the BMW models.
