The BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé emerges from the shadows, revealing its spectacular silhouette
Finally, the BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé is unveiled just ahead of its presentation in Munich, a model that blends sportiness and elegance to perfection

After teasing us with a perfect play of light and shadow, the new BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé finally shows itself in all its splendour, offering us a combination from the German brand that we could consider perfect between sportiness and elegance, to which we must also add the extra comfort for its occupants thanks to its design. It will be presented at the #NextGen event that the brand itself will hold in June in Munich, to begin sales next September.
The BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé is based on the concept of a four-door coupé body, with a front end that is exactly the same as the Serie 8 Coupé but that begins to change from the A-pillars. The windscreen has a lower angle of rake, which allows the roofline to be higher, blending into the rear in a fin-shaped junction near the C-pillars that accentuates the lengthening of its silhouette. At the rear, the rear window continues an upward line that allows a wider opening of the tailgate, which translates into greater convenience when loading the boot.

This change in the lines of the BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé results in greater dimensions: its wheelbase is increased by 201 mm, its length by 231 mm, its width by 30 mm and its height by 61 mm. These new dimensions will not only provide greater comfort for occupants getting in and out, thanks to the wider door openings, but also translate into greater comfort when travelling, especially in the rear seats, which will have more space both in width and height. The capacity of its boot is set at 440 litres, which can be increased by folding down the rear seats in the available 40:20:40 configuration.
To give this extra space an even greater sense of openness, the panoramic roof, 1.5 square metres of glass running uninterrupted from the front windscreen to the rear window, adds luminosity; it can be opened or closed from the inside with a button on the remote control. Additionally, exclusively for the Serie 8 Gran Coupé, you can install a four-zone climate control system together with electric blinds for the rear windows and the rear window.

In terms of interior customisation and technology equipment, you will find the same finishes, gadgets and options list as in the rest of the range. It is worth noting, however, that the BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé comes as standard with elements such as a leather-upholstered dashboard and door panels, electrically adjustable sports seats with integrated headrests and Vernasca leather upholstery, as well as the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which includes a navigation and multimedia system with a 10.25-inch central screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
Mechanically, from launch you can choose from four variants already known from the BMW Serie 8 Coupé. The petrol options are the 840i Gran Coupe and its all-wheel-drive variant, the 840i xDrive Gran Coupe, both powered by an inline six-cylinder delivering 340 CV, while the most powerful version is the 850i xDrive Gran Coupe, with a V8 delivering 530 CV. The diesel option is the 840d xDrive Gran Coupe, whose inline six is slightly detuned to 320 CV. All these engines share the eight-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox, which can be operated manually via the paddles behind the steering wheel.
Finally, due to the increase in its dimensions, the chassis of the BMW Serie 8 Gran Coupé has been tuned directly by BMW M, including the various available suspensions and integral active steering.
