The board of Volkswagen has already given the green light for the production of the Bugatti 16C Galibier, a car that will adopt the 16-cylinder engine from the Veyron, but will be an ultra-luxury saloon.

What Bugatti also has in store for us is that the Galibier will offer an electric motor as an option. What is not entirely clear, at first, is whether the optional powertrain will be fully electric or simply a hybrid system, combining an electric motor with the 16-cylinder beast. I lean towards the latter, because why would the Galibier need to be a hybrid with 1,000 horsepower under its bonnet?

The “doubt” is not even one, in the words of Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO of Bugatti himself: the Galibier has to comply with certain environmental regulations in places that are concerned about cars that emit too much carbon dioxide. And the Galibier, with its 16 cylinders, will hardly go unnoticed.

Production of the Galibier will be limited to 3,000 units at a price you can probably imagine is stratospheric. It is said to be around one and a half million euros.
