The Bugatti inspired by the EB110 SS could debut at Pebble Beach

The new supercar inspired by the Bugatti EB 110 SS could be unveiled during this year’s Monterey Car Week.

The Bugatti inspired by the EB110 SS could be unveiled at Pebble Beach. The possible new Bugatti will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week next month. Rumours of a new launch from the brand in August first surfaced four weeks ago, and Tim Bravo, Bugatti’s head of communications, quickly confirmed that the French carmaker would have a major debut at Monterey Car Week, but gave no further details.

It is now reported that the new Bugatti in question will take inspiration from the iconic Bugatti EB 110 SS of the early 1990s. Certainly, we would be very surprised if this claim turned out to be true.

Some sources say Molsheim will build only ten units of its supercar inspired by the Bugatti EB 110 SS, each priced at eight million euros. That would make it three million euros more expensive than the Bugatti Divo, which was presented last year at Monterey, and surpassed only by the 19 million commanded by the one-off La Voiture Noire launched earlier this year.

Whatever Bugatti is cooking up, we know it will be based on the Bugatti Chiron, which means it will have an 8-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing at least 1,498 CV. This figure may rise for this limited-edition model, but we believe it is more likely that most of the changes will be purely visual.

Bugatti EB 110 SS, reincarnated?

Some have dubbed the “Stephan Winkelmann effect” the frequent launch of models based on the Bugatti Chiron, since the former CEO of Lamborghini, and current head of Bugatti, made a name for himself by approving limited-run special models based on the Lamborghini Aventador such as the Lamborghini Veneno or the Lamborghini Centenario.

It is important to highlight the myth of the Bugatti EB110: this supercar from the French brand was developed in the 1990s, specifically on 15 September 1991, in Versailles and in front of the Arche de la Défense in Paris, exactly 110 years after the birth of Ettore Bugatti, which is why it was named EB110.

Now that the future vehicle from the French brand could be inspired by the Bugatti EB 110 SS, Sport Stradale, it is worth mentioning the original specifications of the model. It was presented in 1992 and, although it carries the same name, it was uprated to 612 CV at 8,250 rpm. It is much lighter than the normal variant and capable of reaching a top speed of 355 km/h. In addition, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. This version also featured a larger-diameter exhaust system, a new ECU, bigger injectors and was 150 kilograms lighter.

The Bugatti EB 110 SS became the fastest car in the world. That record stood for almost five years, until the McLaren F1 arrived on the market in 1998. It should be noted that the Bugatti EB 110 was the only model marketed by the Bugatti Automobili project in Italy, before the current Bugatti was founded, owned by the VAG Group.
