The CUPRA Formentor VZ5 is put to the test on a snowy track
The most powerful model from the high-performance brand of the Volkswagen Group has been put to the test on a circuit in Finland, which it passed successfully.

The most powerful CUPRA model travelled all the way to Lapland to undergo several extreme driving tests. This is no surprise, as the weather in this European country is ideal for testing this type of vehicle. A unit of the Formentor VZ5 was taken there and placed under the control of Jordi Gené, the brand’s driver.
The test was carried out on a closed circuit where the car’s driving capabilities could be pushed to the limit. It has a limited production of 7,000 units and is not only a sports car, but also features all-wheel drive. This means it is capable of tackling very demanding terrain, especially when using all the driver assistance features it is equipped with.

The VZ designation comes from VeloZ, so it is no surprise that speed and acceleration are key considerations. On the track in Rovaniemi, Finland, the Launch Control system was used, which allows the car to deliver and make the most of all available power. With Sport mode selected and the brake pressed until the engine reaches 4,000 rpm, it manages to go from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

CUPRA FORMENTOR VZ5 IN THE SNOW
Once the car was set in motion, the CUPRA driver used Drift Mode to take full control of the vehicle. With this mode, the driver can direct power to the rear right or left wheel, making the slides very spectacular.
This mode delivers the best driving sensations, which makes it ideal for controlled, closed environments such as this track. To manage the model’s power output, rated at 390 CV, the wheels are fitted with brakes using six-piston Akebono calipers and ventilated, drilled discs measuring 375 x 36 mm.
The 20-inch wheels allow the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 to move safely in this setting, and this adventure is a success for the model’s behaviour on icy tracks.
