The CUPRA Tavascan will become a reality in 2024
CUPRA is continuing to expand its family, and the next step will be the CUPRA Tavascan, a model that will reach the road in 2024.
CUPRA has been an independent brand for three years, and during that time it has managed to develop a homegrown vehicle as it promised: the CUPRA Formentor. Over time, we have watched the strategy gradually take shape, but the Spanish brand is hungry for more, and this is no time to stand still. It was a few years ago that CUPRA used the Geneva show to preview an electric future with the CUPRA Tavascan, a coupé-style SUV that will become a reality in 2024.
That’s right, the homegrown brand has also taken the opportunity to reveal that SEAT will have an electric city car in 2025, and that its 100% electric SUV will become a reality. With this premise, CUPRA is ready to grow its family and offer more models that will not take a SEAT as their starting point.
For now, we don’t know more about the production Tavascan, but we can anticipate some details thanks to the concept car we all already know. With this premise, and considering that the Formentor and its corresponding prototype barely differ in anything, we can expect the design of the electric SUV we will see on the road to maintain a close relationship with those first steps we saw in Geneva.

Regardless of this, we must keep in mind that the CUPRA Tavascan will reach the roads within three years, which will mean the brand has six years of history behind it. With this on the table, it would not be far-fetched to think that CUPRA could take advantage of the situation to launch a vehicle tasked with setting new design standards that will pave the way for the future successors and replacements of today’s Formentor, Ateca and León.
The mechanical offering is also a mystery to us, but one key point is clear: the Tavascan will use the Group’s MEB platform. Given this, we can anticipate a very narrow range of engines, similar to other models such as the Volkswagen ID.5 or the Skoda Enyaq iV. If so, we could expect an entry-level version with around 300 CV and more radical variants with outputs above 400 CV.

Whatever the case, it will be in 2024 that we’ll get our answers and learn every last detail of the much-anticipated CUPRA Tavascan. In this way, the Spanish brand is preparing to further consolidate its family and distance itself more firmly from SEAT to complete its journey as an independent brand.
