The Dacia Dokker debuts the new 1.3 TCe engine

The Dacia Dokker range debuts a new petrol engine: the 1.3 TCe unit fitted to, among others, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

Dacia continues to establish itself as an increasingly serious brand, and it is less and less surprising to see it at the top of annual sales rankings. This was demonstrated to us by the Dacia Duster we tested a few months ago.

However, the Romanian brand is not resting and is constantly working to improve its range, so it is common to learn that one of its models has received a new engine. The latest model to receive this treatment is the Dacia Dokker, the small MPV from the subsidiary of the Renault Group.

Therefore, the Dacia Dokker has just received a new petrol engine: the 1.3 TCe powerplant. You may recognise this engine, right? Indeed, it is the unit that Renault developed together with Daimler AG and which, in addition to being fitted to several models from the three-pointed star brand, powers the Mercedes-Benz A 200.

In the Dacia Dokker, however, the electronics have been adjusted so that it delivers a power output of 100 horsepower, with which it is able to produce 200 Nm, meaning it has 63 fewer horsepower than the compact from the star brand.

In the small van from Dacia it is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. With this configuration, it is capable of reaching 100 km/h in 12.3 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h, performance that is more than sufficient for a vehicle of this class.

Fuel consumption is an important factor in a vehicle geared towards commercial use. The Dacia Dokker with the 100-horsepower 1.3 TCe engine has a combined consumption of 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres. It also has CO2 emissions of 153 g/km under the WLTP cycle.

This new engine will only be available on the more modest trims of the range, namely the Access and the Essential. This means it cannot be fitted to the more attractive Dacia Dokker Stepway.

The price of the Dacia Dokker Access with the new 1.3 TCe engine is 10,900 euros. For this price, it comes with standard equipment including air conditioning, a sliding side door, a folding rear bench, hill start assist, an on-board computer and 15-inch alloy wheels.

If you opt for the more complete Dacia Dokker Essential, you will have to pay 11,360 euros, so for just 400 euros more you add to the standard equipment a multifunction steering wheel, a Radio Plug&Radio system and darker upholstery.
