The Dark Matter motor in the Koenigsegg Gemera is surprising for its size and power
Koenigsegg is one of the most exclusive manufacturers in the world and has developed a powerful electric motor that is mounted in the impressive Gemera.

Electric motors are not fixed components in the automotive industry; on the contrary, they are subject to several changes and improvements to make them as efficient as possible. But beyond the changes that can be made to motors for conventional cars, there are major innovations that break with everything we know about this type of motor and go further.
Koenigsegg is known for developing high-performance vehicles, but it also uses newly developed electric motors that enable very interesting innovations. One of these new motors is the one called Dark Matter. This motor has a very distinctive design and has been engineered to be a powertrain that delivers great power with a very original configuration and a very low weight.

The Dark Matter electric motor is designed to deliver outstanding power, yet weighs no more than 39 kg. It is designed to combine the best of radial flux motors and axial flux motors. The technology is called Raxial, the name the Swedish brand has patented.
Electric motors normally have a radial design, the most common in the industry. Axial motors are more compact and more efficient, although they are not as common as the former. The Dark Matter offers the advantages of both types of motor, achieving a compact, contained unit that delivers outstanding power.
It is capable of producing a power of just over 600 kW, that is, 800 CV. It operates at 8,500 rpm and its torque is rated at 1,250 Nm. These impressive figures allow the Koenigsegg Gemera, which uses a hybrid powertrain with a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 combustion engine, to achieve an imposing output of 2,300 CV and a maximum torque of 2,750 Nm.
With these two motors it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 400 km/h, making it one of the fastest cars on the market.
