The De Tomaso P900 arrives, a track-only supercar that will leave you speechless

The company specialising in supercars has created this model, designed to be enjoyed on the circuit, with a very futuristic and aerodynamic look.

De Tomaso is a company that specialises in supercars, both for use on the track and on the road. After presenting the De Tomaso P72 in 2019, the time has now come for the P900, a track-focused supercar designed to amaze anyone who sits behind the wheel.

The aesthetic and aerodynamic design follows in the footsteps of its predecessor and offers a striking, bold image. The vehicle features a carbon fibre base, with a body where this material has also been used to shape it. It includes elements from the road model, such as headlights mounted on the wings and a glass roof.

But many of the elements visible on the bodywork are new, and it enjoys aerodynamic properties that surpass the previous model. At the front we find a larger diffuser, the bonnet features a new air intake, and the front wings are more pronounced, with integrated gills.

At the rear, these differences are accentuated. It has an active-technology rear spoiler. The LED lighting gives it a modern and up-to-date touch on its sides. The rear lights are designed to look like turbine exhausts. Along the top there are several air outlets to cool the vehicle’s powerful engine, and all together they create a striking image.

Engine

De Tomaso could have built this car with an electric drivetrain, following the current trend. But no. It chose to forgo this and has fitted a naturally aspirated V12 engine. This has been supplied by the engineering company Capricorn. The weight of the engine has been optimised and it registers just 220 kg.

This unit will rev up to a total of 12,300 rpm and will be compatible with carbon-neutral synthetic fuel. It is expected to deliver 888 CV, which will be transmitted to the rear axle through an Xtrac sequential gearbox. No performance figures have been given, but the vehicle weighs 900 kg, so the power-to-weight ratio is 1 kg per CV.

Even so, the company has announced that there will be another engine. This will be a V10, which could deliver around 750 CV, which is also quite effective.

Launch and price

This model is expected to be presented in summer 2023, and note that only 18 units will be built. The price of each one will be three million dollars. Of course, all owners will receive support from the brand’s engineers to set up the car for track driving. And moreover, the 18 units have not yet all been sold, so there are still options to get hold of one of them.
