The DS 4 debuts a new diesel engine and the Rojo Absolute Nacarado colour

If you visit us regularly you will know that DS has been an independent brand, separate from Citroën, for about a year now, and that it has positioned itself as the premium brand of the PSA Group.

Its range of vehicles is very short, with just three models: DS 3, DS 4 and DS 5. Since it does not cover many market segments, it has taken an alternative approach which, while not common, seems to be delivering good results.

The way this French premium brand works is to pamper the three models it has as a base (five if we count the DS 3 Cabrio and the DS 4 Crossback) and, from there, to boost their sales and public attention with interesting special editions.

Three special editions have been covered in barely a month: DS 4 Opera Blue, DS 3 Performance B.R.M. Chronographes and DS 3 Givenchy Le Make Up. However, strange as it may seem, today we are going to talk about a novelty in the base DS 4 rather than any particular limited edition.

This month DS has added to its mid-range model, the DS 4, a new entry-level diesel engine for the range with 99 CV and 254 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm, called BlueHDi 100. It is available in the Design and Desire trim levels, and the French brand claims it stands out for its low consumption and emissions. The homologated figures are an average consumption of 3.9 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 102 g/km.

The DS compact, in addition to receiving this engine, which is already veteran within the PSA Group but until now unfamiliar to the DS 4, is also available with a new body colour; Rojo Absolute Nacarado, which we can see in the header image. DS highlights the model’s strong personality, with 38 colour options for the bodywork thanks to the availability of a two-tone bodywork option.

The starting price of the DS 4 Design with this engine is 21,630 euros, and in the Desire trim it is 22,480 euros.
