The EPA gives the new electric Porsche Macan a range of almost 500 km

The United States Environmental Protection Agency, known by its acronym EPA, has just revealed the official range figures obtained in its tests by the new generation of the Porsche Macan with a fully electric propulsion system, and the results are promising for all those who are fortunate enough to sit behind the wheel of this extraordinary compact SUV.

According to the data provided by the EPA, the Macan 4 Electric has been certified with a range of 308 miles, which is equivalent to about 495 km. Meanwhile, the Macan Turbo Electric sees its range slightly reduced in exchange for greater performance, reaching 288 miles. That is, about 463 km.

Just as happened in Europe, Porsche will begin selling the new generation of the Macan with the 4 and Turbo versions. However, the manufacturer has already announced that in the near future a couple of additional versions will arrive in this market: an entry-level version with rear-wheel drive that will offer greater range, and another called 4S, which will sit in the lineup between the two that currently exist.

The new Macan is about to arrive in the North American market

Porsche hopes to make the first deliveries of the new Macan in the United States this same month, starting with the 4 and Turbo versions. Towards the end of November the sale of the base rear-wheel-drive version, with an even greater range, will also begin in this market.

In Spain, this entry-level version of the Macan is already available and has a base price of 82,310 euros. The Macan 4 can be purchased from 85,382 euros. Meanwhile, those who want to get a Macan 4S or Turbo will have to pay at least 92,509 and 116,914 euros, respectively.

The Macan Electric is a model of crucial importance both for Porsche and for the Volkswagen group, since it belongs to one of the segments that must generate the most sales for the brand. In fact, the previous generation of the Macan has been, in recent years, the best-selling Porsche model in the North American market.

With a range that in some of its versions will exceed 300 miles, outstanding technical specifications -with up to 630 horsepower for the Turbo version and a 0 to 60 mph acceleration of just 3.1 seconds-, combined with the brand’s quality, finishes and luxury, the Macan Electric seems to have every chance of continuing to be the sales success that is expected of it at Porsche. We will see in the coming months whether this is really the case.
