The Ford Puma ST will become a reality, and the brand is previewing it with a teaser
Ford has just released a teaser of what will be the new Puma ST, the sporty version of the American SUV that will arrive with 200 CV and a more athletic look.

Although Ford has halted development of what was to be the Focus RS, it is not putting the brakes on the creation of other sporty vehicles. In fact, a few months ago a prototype was spotted that appeared to be the new Puma ST, the first performance variant of the American SUV. At the time these were only rumours, and Ford kept a deafening silence on the matter, but today the oval brand has published a teaser that leaves no room for doubt: there will be a Puma ST ready to crown the segment of sporty compact SUVs.
As teasers usually do, the information is presented discreetly and in a subdued way, with the aim of concealing as much of the vehicle itself as possible. However, given the close kinship between the Ford Puma and the Fiesta, the model with which it shares its platform, it is not far-fetched to predict with considerable certainty some details of this upcoming sporty SUV.
In terms of styling, we can expect a more aggressive design inherited from the Fiesta ST, which has contributed a specific grille and wheels with a lower profile. Despite the dim image, we can make out a noticeably wider body and lowered suspension. The rear will be dominated by a slightly more pronounced spoiler and a dual side exhaust outlet, a detail that will reveal its true identity.

The cabin will feature Recaro sports seats in keeping with the mechanical layout, as well as a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Nevertheless, despite the emphasis on styling, the real heart of this new Ford Puma ST lies in its mechanical specification.
Given the styling synergies between both models, we will also find them inside. In other words, the new Ford Puma ST will very likely use the same turbocharged three-cylinder engine that powers the Fiesta ST with a considerable 200 CV and 290 Nm of torque, figures that will make their appearance in the American SUV.
For now, Ford has not mentioned launch dates, but it will only be a matter of weeks, or perhaps even days, before we meet the new Puma ST. However, it will take somewhat longer to see it on the road, due to the situation we are living through caused by COVID-19, whose effects have impacted every existing sector.
