The Formentor VZ5 returns to the CUPRA lineup once again as a strictly limited edition
CUPRA will once again include the extreme Formentor VZ5 in its lineup. It will deliver almost 400 CV and will be built as a limited edition of 4,000 units

With the first Formentor at CUPRA, they had the brilliant idea of creating an extreme variant they called VZ5, built in a limited run of just 7,000 units that, as you can imagine, sold out sooner rather than later. The formula worked very well, and now with the current model, which as you may recall underwent a restyle last year, CUPRA is doing the same again and we will once again have the Formentor VZ5.
Under the bonnet we have the same formula, with no changes, and this marks the final chapter for this VAG Group TSI, which is also fitted to the new Audi RS3, a farewell across two performance models before it is discontinued. It is the five-cylinder inline TFSI engine of 2,500 cc which, in the Formentor VZ5, still delivers, as in its predecessor, 390 CV of power and a torque figure of 480 Nm, sent to all four wheels through all-wheel drive and the torque splitter selective torque distribution system, not to mention the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The CUPRA Formentor already comes with a very sporty look in its most powerful engine variants, but the VZ5 version goes a step further. The front bumper is slightly modified in its lower section to incorporate a three-section splitter at the bottom with the VZ5 logo engraved in the centre, which also accentuates the width of this model, blending perfectly with the widened wheel arches that house the specific 20-inch wheels in Cooper colour. At the rear, the bumper is also slightly modified to accommodate the new rear diffuser, which integrates the four diagonally positioned exhaust outlets, with the outlets also in Cooper colour.

These are not major changes compared with a “standard” Formentor, but they are enough to tell you that this is the most powerful and exclusive version. Just in case there were any doubts, CUPRA has also decided to fit the brand logos in a dark chrome finish and, for the bodywork, a range of metallic or matt shades has been selected, namely: Dark Void, Magnetic Tech Matt, Century Bronze Matt, Enceladus Grey Matt and Midnight Black.

Turning now to the interior, and looking at the VZ finishes reserved for the most powerful engines, the CUPRA Formentor can already offer a highly sporty atmosphere depending on our configuration choices. That is why the interior details applied to the VZ5 are minimal compared with those fitted on the exterior. Inside, there are details such as the CUPRA logos appearing on areas like the sport seats CUPBucket seats upholstered in leather, or the ambient lighting, which conveys a greater sense of sportiness.
The new CUPRA Formentor VZ5 will enter production in the first quarter of 2026, so we will still have to wait a little while to learn its price in Spain. And mind you, if the previous VZ5 seemed scarce, this one will be even more so, as the brand has announced that only 4,000 units will be built.
