The fully electric Abarth 500 will arrive in 2023
The scorpion brand has just announced that next year it will launch the 100% electric version of its star model as a first step towards electrification

In line with the plans of many of its Stellantis siblings such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat or DS, Abarth CEO Olivier François has just announced the launch of its first fully electric vehicle for next year, the brand’s first step in its transition to electric mobility.
As we already saw in the Stellantis plans presented last August, the approach planned for Abarth in the coming years consisted of becoming an electric car brand, but oriented towards performance, keeping that DNA that cannot be missing from the scorpion’s models.
Testing is already underway
Although the Fiat 500e is already in development, adapting a fully electric system to the Abarth is not exactly easy, as many modifications must be made, above all to its weight distribution, in order to deliver fun and efficient handling, something the current conventional Abarth 500 can boast about.

One of the trump cards that this small Italian hot hatchback can play will be its fairly advantageous position, since it will have no direct competition. The closest we can expect to see in the coming years, barring new announcements, will be the final version of the Cupra UrbanRebel Concept.
Another highlight of the new Abarth 500e will be its sound, since, as Olivier François himself has said, it will be fantastic and “there will be an option to keep silent or not”. This is a key detail for the model, which has earned great fame with its Record Monza during its years on sale.

Differentiated in many aspects
As expected, the new electric 500 will feature exclusive body elements with an extra touch of spice, specific wheels and other characteristic badges that help distinguish this electric version from its combustion-engine variants.
As the brand has not yet officially presented it, we do not know what power range this electric model will offer, although given the power levels now on offer, it would be logical for it to be around 150 and 180 CV.
