The Giulia and Stelvio are being refreshed and feature Competizione details

The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio have been updated to follow in the footsteps of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Facelift 01

The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio have been updated with Matrix LED headlights and a digital instrument cluster in an update that aligns these models with the new Alfa Romeo Tonale. Neither the saloon nor the SUV looks radically different, but the standard adaptive headlights and the subtly recontoured Tribolo grille give a more modern look that is clearly influenced by classic Alfas such as the 1980s SZ coupé.

There is also more in common with the Tonale on the inside, as both the Giulia and Stelvio now benefit from a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster first seen in the smaller SUV. The Heritage mode of the instrument pack resembles the instrument layout of a 1960s Giulia, but it can be configured to show more modern graphics in Evolved mode, or minimal information, a bit like an old Saab, in Relax mode.

This is how the Giulia and Stelvio have evolved

Another technology borrowed from the Tonale is the digital NFT (non-fungible token) record of the car’s provenance and service history which, according to Alfa Romeo, should help improve residual values. The updated Giulia and Stelvio will go on sale in February 2023 with a simplified line-up, again inspired by the Tonale. Entry-level Super models can be upgraded with the addition of a Sprint pack that adds some sporty visual details, while Ti versions get more equipment and can be upgraded with an optional Veloce pack.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Facelift 13

Alfa Romeo has also added a new luxury trim level, Competizione, for both cars, which comes exclusively with new matt grey paint, red brake calipers, adaptive dampers, a leather-wrapped dashboard and, on the Stelvio, 21-inch wheels.

The company describes the Competizione models as the “ultimate expression of the essence of Alfa Romeo in terms of style, performance and technology”. Engines confirmed, although availability depends on the market, include a new 160 CV turbodiesel with rear-wheel drive, a 210 CV diesel, and a 280 CV turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, both with all-wheel drive.
