Electric vehicles have not yet managed to grow at a steady pace and, as a result, to take hold across the great majority of society. Meanwhile, Chinese brands keep arriving in Europe with their new electric models at genuinely competitive and popular prices. We need to give them time to see whether they manage to win over customers and, of course, their long-term reliability, but for now what is undeniable is that they arrive determined to take on the traditional European brands.

One of those Chinese brands that wants to arrive to stay is HiPhi, a brand already fully established in its country of origin with fully electric models such as the X, an SUV that has managed to position itself as the best-selling model in the premium category after only one year on the market. For now it has not made much of an impact in Europe, so far only reaching Germany with both the X and another model called the Z, a kind of sporty saloon also aimed at the premium segment.

As we can see, HiPhi is a brand focused on the premium segment of electric vehicles, so it is no surprise that, to venture into the world of the most sporty and extreme cars, it has chosen what are commonly called “hypercars”. The protagonist that starts this new chapter for HiPhi is called the A and, as you can see in the images, it is a radical version of the current Z.

Aesthetically it is the same base but completely radicalised and aggressive, with a very elaborate front end and bonnet in order to achieve great aerodynamic efficiency, something fundamental in both a supercar and an electric vehicle, elements that blend perfectly with the huge, widened front wheel arches. These arches link seamlessly with the side skirts, which appear to extend a flat underbody in the style of a Formula 1 car, along with the rear wheel arches. The rear follows the elaborate styling of the front, with two key and massive elements: the two-plane rear wing and the rear diffuser.

The interior of the A will seat four occupants and, judging by the first images provided by HiPhi, it will be practically similar in design to the Z except that it will be more technological, incorporating screens to show the image of the rear-view mirrors, which will be cameras to improve aerodynamics, and with special attention to detail, as we will find carbon fibre and titanium inserts.

Another important aspect of the HiPhi A will be its mechanicals, made up of one electric motor on the front axle and two electric motors on the rear axle, resulting in a power output that according to the company could reach up to 1,287 CV, enabling it to reach 100 km/h in just over 2 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h. HiPhi does not give specific details about the battery pack it will use, although the brand claims it will be truly innovative.

For now we will have to wait a few days to learn more specific details about the HiPhi A, though not many days, since the brand has confirmed it will be presented during the Guangzhou Auto Show, which begins on the 17th of this month.
