Skoda Range / versions Historia Rallyes
The history of Škoda's RS range dates back to 1974
The RS range is known for offering affordable options with incredible features, such as the Octavia RS, a family estate with sporty performance. But do you really know its beginnings?

Škoda has always stood for high quality and great features at very competitive prices, but its RS range, which still focuses on petrol models such as the Octavia RS or the Kodiaq RS with 4×4 traction, dates back decades. The first model launched with the RS trim was the 180 RS, released in 1974, and since then it has received a wave of innovations up to the present day, where its range includes an SUV that is sporty and family-friendly, bringing all these features together in a single car: the ENYAQ IV RS.

Since 1974
The history of the Skoda RS range goes back decades. In 1974, the first units of the RS range were built, the 180 RS and the 200 RS, cars of which only competition units were made, none designed for urban roads. Later, in 1975, they launched the 130 RS, a model of which street-legal units were built, no more and no less than 500 examples.

Moving a little closer to the present, in 2001 the iconic Octavia RS arrived, a model with a 1.8T petrol engine producing 179 CV of power (132 kW). Its second generation reached the market in 2006, and the FL facelift joined it in 2009. The same happened with the third generation, which arrived in 2013, and its FL version in 2017. Finally, the fourth generation, which arrived in 2020, and its FL version is scheduled for 2024.

There is also the Fabia RS, a model that reached the Spanish market in 2003 with a 1.9 TDI engine producing 131 CV. Weighing 1,220 kg, the 131 CV engine was capable of reaching 204 km/h. Its second generation arrived in 2010, but it was a model that won over many Spanish drivers, also thanks to a rally version. It all began in 2003 when they launched the Fabia WRC, which lasted until 2009; later came the Fabia Super 2000 from 2009 to 2015. Then the well-known and iconic Fabia RS/Rally2 enjoyed its glory years until 2019, when the Fabia RS evo / Rally 2 evo arrived, lasting until 2022. And finally the marvellous Fabia RS Rally 2, with which Cohete Suárez conquered the 2023 Rally 2 once again.
