The Hyundai IONIQ is one of the most advanced models from the Korean brand. It is an electrically powered vehicle that has been designed to offer three drive systems. The first is fully electric, the second is a hybrid and the third is a plug-in hybrid. The variant that has just arrived is the hybrid, which has now gone on sale.

According to Hyundai, the IONIQ is a hybrid that breaks with what a model of this type is expected to be, standing out in terms of design and styling. As for the drivetrain, we find a 1.6-litre Kappa GDI petrol engine to which is added the equivalent of 43.5 CV supplied by the electric motor. Together, both power units produce 141 CV and a maximum torque of 265 Nm. Both are paired with a six-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission.

On the outside, the typical Hyundai grille sets the signature of the vehicle, with the two HID light units and C-shaped LED headlights. It can be fitted with wheels of between 15 and 17 inches, which gives it a very attractive look. Inside, the aim is also to convey the image of a clean vehicle, with components made from environmentally friendly materials.

As for the hybrid drivetrain, the 105 CV combustion engine is accompanied by an electric motor that allows it to run in pure electric mode at a top speed of 120 km/h. It is an engine designed to operate with maximum efficiency and allows the car to run in two modes, SPORT and ECO.

In the first, it makes use of the lower gears, holding on to them for longer, while in the second it optimises gear use to achieve the best performance with the lowest possible consumption. In terms of equipment, tech enthusiasts will find all the connectivity features needed to stay in touch with their smartphone safely, and even the possibility of charging mobile phones using the Qi charging standard.

Driving is made even safer by a range of driver assistance systems that increase safety on the road and include Cruise Control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System to keep track of the condition of the tyres at all times, among other things.
